Singa works with most microphones. However, there are a few features to consider when choosing a microphone to ensure the best possible experience.
Choose the right microphone
In general, a dynamic handheld microphone is recommended for karaoke. It can handle very loud vocal performances and picks up sound mainly from in front of the microphone, which helps reduce background noise and the risk of feedback.
Condenser microphones are better suited to quiet environments, such as studios, and can pick up more ambient sound than is usually desirable for karaoke use.
Wired or wireless?
Both wired and wireless microphones work with Singa.
A wired microphone is usually easy to set up and doesn't require you to worry about battery life or a wireless connection.
A wireless microphone gives you more freedom of movement, but requires a receiver or other compatible wireless system, and charged or new batteries.
USB or analog connection?
Many microphones connect directly to your computer or device via USB. This is often the easiest option, as a separate sound card is usually not required.
If you are using a microphone with an XLR or 6.35 mm connection, you will usually need a compatible audio connection or audio interface to connect the microphone to your device.
Pay attention to compatibility
Before purchasing, make sure that the microphone or its receiver is compatible with the device and operating system you are using. Also check if adapters or separate drivers are required, if necessary.
Using a separate microphone with your phone
Using a separate microphone with your phone depends on the ports on both the microphone and the phone.
A USB microphone may work directly if your phone supports USB audio devices. In some cases, you may need a USB adapter depending on your phone's port.
A 3.5 mm microphone may require an adapter if your phone does not have a headphone jack. Not all adapters support microphone input, so check compatibility before using.
Wireless microphones usually work through their own receiver. The receiver is connected to the phone either directly or with the appropriate adapter.
If your phone does not automatically detect the external microphone, check your device settings and make sure the microphone is compatible with your phone and operating system.
